So Many Summer Programs!

The 2021 school year is coming to an end, but EduCare Foundation is not going on vacation! We’re ramping up to bring safe, engaging, enriching, and healing summer learning programs to over 4,500 middle school and high school students across 39 Los Angeles Unified, Lynwood Unified, and Green Dot public schools.

Our services will be in person when possible (following COVID-19 safety guidelines), and hybrid or virtual when necessary to meet the needs of families, now and as conditions change. Since this will be the first time in over a year that many of our students have had in-person instruction, we are prioritizing programs that support social and emotional health and wellbeing, providing young people with the targeted support they need to begin to thrive again.

Theatre, Math, Meditation, and So Much More

EduCare’s summer youth programs will meet daily, Monday-Saturday, throughout the summer. In order to assist youth, families, and educators to rediscover the joy of learning, school, and community following any trauma or anxiety resulting from the pandemic, every program will incorporate elements of social-emotional learning (SEL), mental health support, case management, parent and educator workshops, and community service projects.

In addition, EduCare will offer hybrid academic support and tutoring classes in a range of subjects, including math, history, English Language Development (ELD), SAT prep, college prep, and credit intervention to assist our students to excel in their upcoming fall classes and college applications.

Of course, we’ll also be making lots of time for fun! Students will be able to select from visual and performing arts, music, dance, crafts, theatre, filmmaking, spoken word, e-gaming, sign language, academic decathlon, cooking, drivers ed, STEM, and many more. Students will stay active with activities including fitness, sports clinics, yoga, meditation, and aerobics classes.

We’re as eager as our students, educators, and families to start making the transition to the new school year in the fall, and to laying the foundation for a return to kind, compassionate, learning environments that foster learning and growth.

EduCare Foundation is able to offer these classes at no cost to our students, thanks to contracts from our partner schools, the generous support of the California Community Foundation’s 2021 Summer Learning Initiative, and individual donations.
